Despite the Arctic conditions, our intrepid U13 boys took to the field with a mixed A/B side to play Eaton Manor. It had been wintry all morning but this later kick-off was met with a blizzard, which saw the other age groups retreat into the Clubhouse.
We cannot say enough of the boys who managed to keep going as well as remarkably passing and moving the ball as if it were a summer's day.
It was a close contest in the first 25 minutes, with both sides battling well to share four tries - Hugo supporting a strong forward run from Keiran, whilst Adam forced over the line despite the attentions of a couple of Eaton Manor forwards. Finn was looking lively on the wing but his morning was brought to a halt by a painful 'dead leg'. He has since been in the wars at school rugby and may miss a chunk of the remaining season; our best wishes go to him.

A shortened second half due to the icy conditions saw the teams continue where they left off, with a try scored a piece.
Thereafter, we quickly gained the initiative with good leadership from Ben and Hugo lifting the team and adding to the scoreline, taking the game away from our opposition. There was time for Henry to burst through and to start celebrating well ahead of the try line in Chris Ashton fashion (or was it Alan Shearer?); anyway, I'm sure that having notched his debut try his future celebrations will be more reserved....!
Stalwart performances also from Jack E, Ethan and Alex C.

Both teams should be congratulated on trying to play good rugby despite the forces of nature. Thanks again to Paul Creasey for officiating and for those hardy souls who dismantled the pitch and separated white cones (not the best idea) from snow in record time.
