A message from Paul Eveleigh - Hertford RFC Chairman

Dear Members,
As you may have already heard the RFU, following government advice, has suspended all rugby from today until Tuesday 14th April. Therefore with immediate effect we have closed the clubhouse and suspended all rugby matches including training. We will of course continue to monitor the situation and assess nearer the time if the 1st XV match against Brighton and ladies lunch will take place on 18th April. The Minis County Finals on 29th March have been cancelled. The Herts Youth County Finals are on the 26th April (hosted at OAs) is currently still ON, but highly likely to be called off. We are currently assessing the situation with regards to the Minis tour but we expect that the Tour Company will, unfortunately, cancel it in the coming weeks. We will keep you informed of developments.

Our main concern is for the health and wellbeing of our members. The older generation are particularly vulnerable to coronavirus and as a rugby community we want to assure our older members that we are available to help. If you need any assistance at all, even if it's a bit of shopping etc, then please don't hesitate to contact me paul@whcoltd.co.uk 07801387252 or Peter King p.king056@btinternet.com 07891 486261 and we will coordinate a response.

Please note the message that our President, Peter King, received from Dave Archer (1st XV):

“I was just getting in touch as I know a lot of our patrons and members of the club are potentially in the high risk category. I was wondering if there was a way of reaching out to them to see if any of the boys could pop in and do/ get anything for them. I can get a band of merry men to help the community wherever needed.”

I think Dave’s message sums up the strength of the rugby community. Together we will overcome these challenges.

Finally please follow Government advice and keep you and your family safe and healthy

Best Wishes,

Paul Eveleigh
Chairman
