We are delighted to announce that we welcome Ella Wyrwas to our bustling and blossoming girls’ team. Ella joined our first session back after Christmas, where our 23-player strong squad embraced the Saracens Scrum Half and relished the opportunity to share a pitch with her. The hailstones and lightening may have been bleak yet the smiles on pitch definitely shone.

Ella joins our two established County level coaches and not only provides the players with a first-class role model but also can encourage ambition and clear player pathways. The coaching team are passionate about ensuring player development and they instil an ethos of performance over outcome into the girls.

Regardless of the weather, Ella and the players got on with the job in hand, quickly putting the girls support skills to the test with a game of ‘keep the ball alive’. They worked on their defensive technique with a smashing ‘tackle tekkers’ session. The girls were a credit to the club; they were engaged, focussed and were making some excellent decisions and ultimately, progressing in their play.

Additionally, we managed to introduce players from the latest section to Hertford Rugby Club - Girls Minis - to Ella and they had fun playing a ball handling and team building game before the weather really did intervene.
