This Remembrance Sunday, Hertford Rugby Club came together in a powerful display of unity and respect as over 1,000 players, parents, and community members gathered to honor those who have served and sacrificed. The service was led by Major (Retd.) Alun Powell, a poignant reminder of the solemnity of the occasion.
Ex Servicemen wore berets and medals with ex Guards, Para's, Catering Corp and Anglian regiments on display.
Among those paying their respects were members of the club’s board, including Chair Karen Newbury, Vice Chair Will Davies, Youth Chair Olly Gawthorn, and Joint Head of Rugby Ged Murphy, reflecting the club’s deep commitment to remembrance and community values.
A particularly special moment of the service was delivered by U13 player Josh Aitken, who played the Last Post and Reveille. His heartfelt performance touched everyone present, creating a lasting memory of respect and gratitude.
Thank you to all who attended, showing once again that Hertford Rugby Club stands together, honoring the past and embracing the values of courage and service that make our community strong.
