A Gum Shield / Mouthguard Clinic will run again at the Clubhouse on Sunday 3 September, as well as a back-up session on Sunday 10 September, in order for players to be fitted with new gum shields for the coming season.
Mouthguards / gum shields are a necessity for all Youth and Senior section rugby players, as well as being appropriate for older age groups in the Minis section.
I am delighted that we have once again secured the combined professional services of Redbourn Dentistry and Spectrum Guards to run the clinics and to produce the fitted mouthguards. They have both provided this service for us in the past – and we had positive feedback last year – so are familiar with the set-up at Hoe Lane and know what to expect! Despite continued cost inflation, difficulties in sourcing appropriate materials, plus enhanced hygiene requirements post COVID, we have been able to hold the same prices as for last year based on what we hope will be an increased take-up as a Club.
The price is as follows:
£40 for the first shield
£30 for the second and each subsequent shield
Whilst we recognise this is another cost for people to bear, it is much cheaper than organising direct with a dentist, plus the quality is far superior to the 'boil and mould' versions. The single shield works out at around £1.40 per week to provide protection during training and matches. The moulds will be available in Club colours as well as several other options (for example, to match with school rugby colours).
It is key that we see an increased take-up this year in order for us to continue to offer this important service, so please mark your diaries accordingly.
Your Admin contacts will be in touch shortly with the order form and to indicate timings for your particular age group to help avoid too much congestion and interruption of training sessions. Payment is on the day of fitting and we will have card machines available, as well as accepting cheques and cash
Best,
Andy
