We are very pleased to announce that Richard Gregg has agreed to continue at Hertford as 1st XV Coach next season.
Many will know that Greggy has been an integral part of the senior club for many years. He played for the 1st XV in 2015/16 before his forced retirement through injury when he took on the role of Senior Coach.
He is no stranger to new Head Coach 'Macca' as they coach Hertfordshire 1st XV , narrowly missing out on a place in the final of the County Championship 'Bill Beaumont Cup' this season.
Greggy said " I can't wait to get back to it and work with Macca with whom I've formed a great partnership at county level and I believe we can build on that with Hertford. I've learnt a great deal over the past few seasons and can't wait be start with the new set up at Hoe Lane."
As a club, we are very lucky to have retained Greggy and wish him every success for the new campaign.
2nd XV Coaching Line up.
In a drive to build on and enhance the overall coaching offering, we are pleased to announce that Nick Lacey and John 'JP' Patton will be heading up the 2nd XV coaching team.
These are two coaches who are great clubmen with a huge passion for developing young players.
Nick said, "With 35-40 players being used each year in the 1st XV, to be successful, it's vital that the club have a strong 2nd string. It's our job to create an environment in which young Hertford players can thrive and develop."
Both Nick and JP bring huge experience with the ever youthful JP, notching up over 350 1st XV appearances. He knows Hoe Lane like no one else and has an Aladins cave (or maybe a Pandoras box!) of front row knowledge.
Robbie Morris
Specialist Scrum Coach.
We are happy and proud to announce that Ex England and Northampton prop, Robbie, will be expanding his involvement to work as Specialist Scrum Coach to all the senior teams and the Academy age groups.
To have a coach with Robbie's outstanding skill sets is invaluable and players throughout the club will learn from an ex professional who knows the scrum inside out.
It doesn't end there.
Charlotte's back.
Charlotte Waring and her superb team, AKA, Active Body Sports Clinic, will be returning for the coming season, providing medical cover for the 1st and 2nd XVs.
A decades worth of players have been put back together as well as having been prevented from getting injured by the superb prehab and rehab offering.
Charlotte has been respected by players and coaches and we are very happy to announce her return.
......and as an added bonus, she has agreed to translate for Michael Owen!
And finally!
Interim Heads of Rugby
Resulting from a meeting a month ago Ben Storey and Ged Murphy were asked, and agreed, to take on the joint role of Interim HoR until the AGM in July when a permanent appointment will be put forward for the membership to vote on.
Since then, they have been working, along with the board and many others to organise the restructuring in preparation for the new season.
Both are long term players or ex players and have previously held multiple roles within the club. We are sure you will give them every support.
Ben and Ged said, " We'll just get on with it shall we?
