Winds of change (dying down)

I think it's fair to say that last week was a disappointing result and despite the fact that our opponents, Sudbury, were third in the league and we did achieve a losing bonus point, the game was definitely there for the taking and we did play well in parts.

Sudbury’s full length breakaway from a promising Hertford attacking phase and a snipers try around the ruck when they were down to 13 men Sealed Hertford's fate. It was good to see the last play try from Hertford to gain the losing bonus point but at this level of rugby, those small lapses in concentration can cost you dearly.

So, we look at what went wrong and we go again. This week is our rescheduled frozen off fixture against Bedford athletic who will be smarting from a very heavy defeat last week from the leagues top pick, Oundle. Bedford's last win was in mid November with their only other victory being against ourselves in the away fixture, early season.

We have a few changes from last week mainly due to injuries and unavailability and the new look back line will need to bed in quickly if we are to achieve a much needed victory.

Last week's man of the match Kyle lemon returns to fly half whilst Finn Sutherland moves in to center, where he will partner Ben Gilchrist. This opens the door for welcome returns on the wing for Hugo Creasey and Louie Kendrick at fullback.

In the forwards, Lewis Melton gets another shot at 2nd row and Taite Williams gets another chance to show us the abundant skills and huge engine that we know he possesses. The incredibly hard working Sam Balkan joins Ciaran Galvin and Don Merrett on the bench.

It's great to see some lads Who have been plying their trade in the 2nd XV lately getting another opportunity to show their wares on the bigger stage and hopefully put down a marker for coaches and selectors. The 2’s are currently unbeaten and will hopefully be entering a new and more challenging league next season.

They are also at home this weekend and will be hosting Wansted, So if you get to the club early take a stroll and watch the future.

Luckily, it looks as though the winds will have died down for the game so let's look forward to a flowing and entertaining game. Make sure we behind the lads and maybe we'll get the music right this week!

See you there. Mine's a Guinness
