The last league game before Christmas sees skipper Josh Hewitt notch up his 100th league game for the club. Congratulations to Josh, but knowing the character, his focus will be not on himself but on trying reverse the result of our early season encounter at Cow Lane. (Picture features Josh getting down and dirty.)
As is the norm, we see several changes to face Tring, but unusually of late, no debutants!
Joe Tracy and Archie Nicklin are unavailable this week and those slots will be filled by recent signing Elliot McPhun, who made a great impression in his first outing at 10, and the ‘Bannaman’ moving into The Row.
Last week’s league virgin, Michael Anthony Gibilaro (MAG, for ease) retains the 9 spot for his first home game. Proud Dad Felice will be making every pass and tackle with him from the side lines.
Josh Rudling has recovered from the injury that saw him leave the field in the first few minutes last week and there is also a welcome return for the ubiquitous Cornishman Tremaine Fry, on the flank.
The support of the ‘16th man’ will be very welcome from all sides of the grounds and with 305 booked for the pre match lunch that shouldn’t be an issue.
Post match, local group, The Monitors will entertaining the masses from 6ish.
Next week 23rd Dec, will be our annual Carol Service, a fifty plus year tradition along with the magnificent Ware Brass Band. (That looked odd until I added Band!)
Prior to the Carols, there will be a game between our Under 30’s and Over 30’s ( or maybe 35’s or who knows) in memory of the wonderful Rob Smyth, who walked away from Cancer on his own terms back in August, 3 years after emigrating to OZ with his young family, who will be in attendance for the day.
A raffle will raise money for the campaign for Dignity In Dying. There will be more info about the game during the week so keep’em peeled, and come along if you can.
Well that’s your Saturday’s up to Christmas sorted, starting with tomorrow.
See you there, mine’s a Guinness.
