The International Cuisine & Music Evening
Saturday,19th November 2016
This very popular Club social started in 2006 and has been put on every
year since. 8 Club “chefs” and their helpers rise to the challenge of producing and serving an international “dish” accompanied
by a drink HRFC Year Book 2016/2017 | 31 from a country of their choice, all within a given budget.
The “chefs” set up their food stalls in the dining room and once “open
for business”, around 8.15pm, you are invited to walk around the various stalls, at your leisure, sampling the excellent
cuisine on offer. Starter size portions are served, so pace yourself and try all eight!! The “chefs” keep serving until
about 9.45pm or when there is no more!!! The great atmosphere in the Cub house is enhanced with the sounds of a live band.
Last November there was once again an amazing selection of wonderful
food served up by our chefs, namely: Roy Glossop (Thailand), Tom Metz & Hugh Lacey (Singapore), Claire Gorton (Turkey),
Gavin Howell (Sri-Lanka), Glen Barrett (Germany), Jon Patton and Jonny Hollis (USA), Gary Bullen (Cuba) & Kevin Brewer (Italy).
During the evening we were entertained by the salsa sounds of the fantastic Cubano Quartet who were visiting Hoe Lane for
the first time.
This event is open to all Members, their families and friends. Event
starts at 7.00pm.
Tickets: £15 per person including the food and drink from the
food stands. £5 for children (under 16) wishing to eat. £35 for family ticket (2 adults & 2 children).

it will take place on Christmas Eve. It will make for a very special occasion indeed.

food and live music from a number of local bands and Saturday featured the 6 Nations rugby. Our thanks go to Allan Tyrer
for all his efforts in running this event.
Details of this season’s festival are currently being discussed and
once finalized will be announced on the Club’s website etc.

him for a traditional Club dinner. Guest speaker to be announced.

Last March this Dinner supported Tom Horey and the RFU Injured Players
Foundation and was a huge success with 165 Members and guests attending and raised over £17,000 for these Funds. Our guest
speaker was Jeff Probyn who made a great speech and then proceeded to hold an impromptu “live” coaching session for our
props in the small bar afterwards!

Ladies and Supporters Lunch
Saturday, 4th March 2017
Another firm fixture in the Club’s social calendar and has now become
one of the Club’s nominated charity events. This is without doubt the liveliest supporters lunch of the season with the
gin & tonics and Prosecco in full flow from the minute the bars are open at midday and wild partying after the match!!
Last season over 90 ladies attended and were entertained by Club VPs,
Annie Hartwright (who came up from Worcester for the weekend) and Michael “Mazo” Maslinski. The day was enlivened by the
auctioning and subsequent presentation of the 1st XV squad for a “slave” period after the game and for the pink playing
shirts that the players wore for this very special day. The proceeds from this auction and other funds raised during the
day, totalling around £2,500, all went to the charity for the day, Children with Cancer UK. After the match, with the amazing
Theresa Jae in full voice, the Club house was turned into “the best night Club in Hertford and it was only six o’clock in
the evening!” as quoted by one of our senior Club captains who had just returned from an away game with his team. Our thanks
go to the coaches of the 1st XV squad who sponsored the shirts, to the Oak Room, Hertford for donating the table flowers
and especially to our ladies for their generous support and for making it such a fantastic day! Our thanks also go to Baz
and Amanda who helped enormously with the organization of this event.
Tickets: £25 per person includes 3 course lunch, programme,
entrance fee and the postmatch entertainment.
Club Awards & Fun Day including the Plant Sale
Sunday, 14th May 2017
The second Club Awards and Fun day held on Sunday, 15th May 2016 was
another great success with all age groups attending. As well as gathering in their groups for the end of season presentations,
there was a variety of side shows plus Kev’s snack wagon, popcorn, candy floss and an ice cream van to keep the youngsters
happy and content! Following the awards there was a DJ set from the balcony by John Warrington and live music on the main
pitch from Box Deluxe featuring senior club player, Chris Barlow, on the drums.
During the morning the Club also held its’ 3rd Annual Plant Sale. This
again proved to be a huge success. The great selection of quality summer border and patio plants, hanging baskets and perennials
are supplied by a Club Member who owns a local nursery. A profit of £850 was made from the Plant Sale for the Projects Fund.
Saturday, 10th June 2017
Time to Dress to Impress by putting on your posh summer frocks and DJ’s
and attend the Club’s biggest social event of the year!
The party is held in a grand marquee on the main pitch with disco, band
and bars including the infamous vodka ice luge.
Members can buy either Platinum or Silver tickets. The Platinum tickets
include a 3 course dinner served in the dining area of the marquee (tables can be booked seating from 8 to 12 people) whilst
the Silver tickets include a buffet with seating and tables available for reservation in the bar area of the marquee.
This year’s event was attended by around 260 people (180 on Platinum
and 80 on Silver) and a great evening was had by all. Club VP, Steve Tyner put together a fantastic nine piece band and
the evening was compered as usual by Dave Green, our “resident” DJ, who kept the party going until the 2am finish. Many
thanks to the gang that helped set up the marquee on the Saturday morning, to the event sponsors namely Steven Oates, Herts
Storage, Entire Building Solutions, Terry Day and Simon Milner, to all the companies and persons who donated raffle prizes,
to Peter Evans for donating the table displays and finally to Kevin, Jackie, Baz, Linda and their respective teams for making
the event run so smoothly.
Open to all Club Members, their guests and friends. Bars open from 6.30pm.
Event closes at 2am.
