Our Website Privacy & Cookies Policy

We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of our website visitors; this policy sets out how we will treat your personal information.

Our policy is to collect no personal information about you when you visit our website, unless you choose to make such information available to us.

What information do we collect?

We may collect, store and use the following kinds of personal information:

(a) our web server may record information about your computer and about your visits to and use of this website (including your IP address, geographical location, browser type and version, operating system, referral source, length of visit, page views, website navigation. This is done so that the content of the site can be improved, and your personal information is not identified.

(b) information that you provide when contacting us and any other information that you choose to send to us - we may keep a record of that correspondence.

Except as stated already, Hertford RFC will make no attempt to identify individual website users. You should be aware, however, that access to web pages will generally create log entries in the systems of your ISP or network service provider. These entities may be in a position to identify the client computer equipment used to access a page. Such monitoring would be done by the provider of network services and is beyond the responsibility or control of Hertford RFC.

All website server log file information collected by Hertford RFC is kept secure and no access to raw log files is given to any third party. This information does not result in the identification of your personal e-mail address or other personal information. The information collected is only the file volume and timing of access to the site whilst visiting the site. This is done so that the content of the site can be improved, and your personal information is not identified.

Cookies

A cookie consists of information sent by a web server to a web browser, and stored by the browser. The information is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. This enables the web server to identify and track the web browser. Most browsers allow you to reject all cookies, whilst some browsers allow you to reject just third party cookies. For example, in Internet Explorer you can refuse all cookies by clicking "Tools", "Internet Options", "Privacy", and selecting "Block all cookies" using the sliding selector. Blocking all cookies will, however, have a negative impact upon the usability of many websites.

No cookies are set while browsing this website except for when using our 'phpBB' message board - as detailed below:

This policy explains in detail how “HERTFORD RFC” along with its affiliated companies (hereinafter “we”, “us”, “our”, “HERTFORD RFC”, “http://www.hertfordrfc.co.uk/phpBB3”) and phpBB (hereinafter “they”, “them”, “their”, “phpBB software”, “www.phpbb.com”, “phpBB Group”, “phpBB Teams”) use any information collected during any session of usage by you (hereinafter “your information”).

Your information is collected via two ways. Firstly, by browsing the “HERTFORD RFC” message board will cause the phpBB software to create a number of cookies, which are small text files that are downloaded on to your computer’s web browser temporary files. The first two cookies just contain a user identifier (phpbb3_oixw4_u and phpbb3_oixw4_k hereinafter “user-id”) and an anonymous session identifier (phpbb3_oixw4_sid hereinafter “session-id”), automatically assigned to you by the phpBB software. A third cookie will be created once you have browsed topics within “HERTFORD RFC” and is used to store which topics have been read, thereby improving your user experience.

We may also create cookies external to the phpBB software whilst browsing “HERTFORD RFC”, though these are outside the scope of this document which is intended to only cover the pages created by the phpBB software. The second way in which we collect your information is by what you submit to us. This can be, and is not limited to: posting as an anonymous user (hereinafter “anonymous posts”), registering on “HERTFORD RFC” (hereinafter “your account”) and posts submitted by you after registration and whilst logged in (hereinafter “your posts”).

Your phpBB message board account will at a bare minimum contain a uniquely identifiable name (hereinafter “your user name”), a personal password used for logging into your account (hereinafter “your password”) and a personal, valid e-mail address (hereinafter “your e-mail”). Your information for your account at “HERTFORD RFC” is protected by data-protection laws applicable in the country that hosts us. Any information beyond your user name, your password, and your e-mail address required by “HERTFORD RFC” during the registration process is either mandatory or optional, at the discretion of “HERTFORD RFC”. In all cases, you have the option of what information in your account is publicly displayed. Furthermore, within your account, you have the option to opt-in or opt-out of automatically generated e-mails from the phpBB software.

Your password is ciphered (a one-way hash) so that it is secure. However, it is recommended that you do not reuse the same password across a number of different websites. Your password is the means of accessing your account at “HERTFORD RFC”, so please guard it carefully and under no circumstance will anyone affiliated with “HERTFORD RFC”, phpBB or another 3rd party, legitimately ask you for your password. Should you forget your password for your account, you can use the “I forgot my password” feature provided by the phpBB software. This process will ask you to submit your user name and your e-mail, then the phpBB software will generate a new password to reclaim your account.
