He was a second row and packed down beside John Atkinson for both Hertford Grammar School (Richard Hale) and Hertford RFC. He is seen standing behind a youthful looking Akki in the photograph.

For a time he also captained the clubs 2nd XV before moving to Cornwall with his wife Annie.

I have yet to discover the origin of his nickname 'The Colonel'.

He is fondly remembered by some of our more senior members who were recalling tales of away trips in his car named 'Blodwyn' yesterday.
